I started this blog because I wanted to share the reasons we cook and eat and enjoy: memory, family, community, taste, love. The responsibility to eat both healthily and ethically is also important and makes this most essential human activity one which is our most frequent opportunity to live our values.
I am a writer and cook who likes food history and cooks for a a Newark soup kitchen. I belong to New York Culinary Historians and am a student at ICE, NYU and the New School depending on where my next interest is best pursued. Raised in South Carolina, I have a strong background in southern cooking which tends to appear in my food.

Hi
I found your blog and discovered you link to me and was delighted to find you, especially since I am very interested in NY food history and am a graduate of NYU. Enjoyed getting to know your blog. I’ll be back!
Take care
